I introduce the October 29, 1939 episode of The Jack Benny Show by giving a bit of background on the show and characters.

Jack hosts a Masquerade Party for Halloween, and suspects his singer Dennis Day's mother of trying to poison him.  Funny stuff, still holds up today.  Included here is a picture of the cast at the height of the show's popularity.  From left to right:

Dennis Day, Rochester, Phil Harris, Mary Livingstone, Jack Benny, Don Wilson, and Mel Blanc (yes, the Mel Blanc who did all the voices for  Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, and a lot of the other Looney Tunes cartoon characters - he was s emi-regular cast member)

Enjoy the cast, and Happy Halloween!

The proper FOW podcast begins next week, and will be drastically different than these two Halloween specials.

This is the first episode of the FULL OF WIN podcast, and is presented as a Halloween Special "pilot" or "test" podcast.

I introduce myself, tell you what the podcast will (eventually) be about, and give you a little background on the old time radio show Quiet, Please! - a suspense/horror/fantasy series which ran from 1947 through 1949.

The episode I've selected for Halloween is entitled "The Thing on the Fourble Board," and it's genuinely creepy even today.

Yeah, the audio is a little shaky - I screwed up and recorded in mono, and had to convert it to a stereo-mono mix, and when I shrank the mp3 the sound degraded.  Oh, well.  It's my first cast.  I'll get better.  The Quiet, Please! episode sounds just fine.

Enjoy the episode, and I'll be back before Halloween Day is over for one more special episode.

To the left you'll find pics of the Quiet, Please! creators, Willis Cooper (fat little guy with the mustache) and Ernest Chappell (dapper middle-aged gent).
